Mesopotamia
Mesopotamia is known as the fertile crescent. There was much farming in ancient Mesopotamia. Farmers would dig trenches from the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers to keep their soil moist. The Tigris and Euphrates Rivers were very important in Ancient Mesopotamia, because they relied on the two major rivers for access to sea and water for farming, two major things that kept the civilization alive. There were many people who would help build the large temples called Ziggurats. Priests were very high jobs in ancient Mesopotamia. Priests would keep people in order so they could make the gods happy. They would also act as doctors, so if you were sick, you would get a Priest to help you. You could tell if they were a priest, because they would shave their heads. The upper class in ancient Mesopotamia would wear elaborate clothing and jewelry. The lower class was made up of merchants and people who worked in the fields for the farmers. Slaves were usually prisoners from a different conquered village. Slaves would work for the king or other wealthy people.
